Allow the default search selections to be based on the user's needs. For example User 1 predominantly searches based on phone numbers so instead of having the Report Name as the default could she change it so  it would be Work Phone, Cell phone & Home Phone, User 2 predominantly searches on Names so have her default options as Report Name, Last Name, Sort Name, Org Name, Partner First or Last Name
 
People have also mentioned that they tend to select a lot of fields so it would be more efficient to have a Select All and then deselect specific options than it is to manually select all their options
