DonorCentral NXT Login Options

Having Google as a sign in option only seems to make it more confusing for donors who have Gmail addresses. If they log in through Google initially and come back to the site at a later time, it's too easy for them to miss the Sign In with Google option. And if they initially signed up for a Blackbaud ID using their Gmail address, they may forget down the road and try to sign in with Google which may have a different password. There are too many variables and I can't blame donors for getting frustrated. If Blackbaud ID's are here to stay for DonorCentral NXT, why not just have all users sign up for Blackbaud accounts?

For our organization, having DonorCentral is primarily about enhancing our donor's experience. This Google sign-in issue has been the most frustrating component of the entire DonorCentral launch and maintenance because it is incredibly confusing for many donors using the system. Not only does it completely prevent the donors from moving along in the process of setting up their account and logging into DonorCentral but it takes multiple phone calls, emails and in-person visits between staff and donors to resolve--making DonorCentral appear to donors as a headache that isn't worth their time. We made a concerted effort to donors to not use the Google sign-in option but the prominence of it on the log in screen and the inability to edit the text in the welcome email has made this problem unavoidable.  Overall, the worst part about DonorCentral is the login process which is obviously disappointing - it's donors' first experience with the site and what should be simple can devolve into an unnecessary mess and headache.

This has been a huge problem for us and our donors. Because the "Sign in with Google" option is much more prominent, we've had donors click this that do NOT have google accounts, or their gmail account is different than the email we have on file in FIMS, and they are unable to access DonorCentral at all. They get error messages anytime they attempt to login moving forward. Once they click the google option, there is no option to then create a Blackbaud ID. REMOVE THE GOOGLE OPTION. I don't see a need for it. Why not have everyone create a Blackbaud ID for the DC system? Two login processes are confusing and messy. Also, our donors have no clue what Blackbaud is - why not have a "create a username" button instead?? Staff would love to have this be easy for DONORS first and foremost. Why can't we edit the login page or at least hide the google sign in if we so choose? Please fix Blackbaud!!

I would vote for this 100 million times if I could. We have had at least five donors get STUCK with using the google log on and locked out from creating a blackbaud ID (in every case they don't' even  remember clicking on the google option). we have resolved the issue for them in most cases but it is a HUGE headache. what they need to do is move this option down the page to the bottom, at least.

Now that donors are getting more used to the "Sign in with Google" option, it would be a pain to lose that option and require them to create Blackbaud accounts.
